Injury updateBy Michael Turesson (Los Angeles Kings) On Saturday 18th May 2024 / 2:15pmMikey Anderson, the defenseman for the Los Angeles Kings, is facing a setback as he is sidelined for one month due to a lower body injury. This injury was confirmed after a detailed medical evaluation, revealing the extent of the damage. The team will need to adjust their strategy and rely on their depth to compensate for his loss during this recovery period. New CommentKing ships Moore to DetroitBy Michael Turesson (Los Angeles Kings) On Sunday 28th April 2024 / 6:55pmIt seems like the Los Angeles Kings have made a trade, acquiring Andreas Athanasiou along with 2025 2nd round draft pick from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for Trevor Moore. Athanasiou brings speed and scoring ability to the Kings' lineup, while Moore's future with the team was uncertain. The draft pick included in the deal could provide additional value for the Kings in the long term. It's a move that reflects the Kings' desire to bolster their roster and potentially secure players who are more likely to commit to the team long-term. New CommentKings get Sam BennetBy Michael Turesson (Los Angeles Kings) On Monday 22nd April 2024 / 7:49amIt seems like the Kings are shoring up their center depth with the acquisition of Sam Bennett from Chicago. Bennett can provide some additional scoring prowess from the center position, which could bolster the Kings' offensive capabilities. In exchange, the Kings are giving up some draft picks, including a second-round pick in 2025 and fourth-round picks in 2024 and 2026. It looks like a strategic move by both teams, with the Kings addressing a specific need while Chicago gains some future draft assets. New CommentTalbot moves onBy Michael Turesson (Los Angeles Kings) On Wednesday 17th April 2024 / 11:08amThat's quite the shakeup! It seems like the Los Angeles Kings are making moves to accommodate Cam Talbot's contract situation. Trading him to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Joonas Korpisalo and a 3rd round pick in 2024 shows they're looking to get value in return while addressing their goaltending needs. Korpisalo brings solid goaltending skills, and the draft pick adds to the Kings' assets. It'll be interesting to see how Talbot fits in with the Blackhawks and how Korpisalo performs with the Kings. New CommentJonathan Toews to the Red WingsBy Jimmy Emanuelsson (Detroit Red Wings) On Thursday 11th April 2024 / 10:30pmJonathan Toews will retire as a Red Wing. Earlier this season Toews stated that this will be his last season in the league.
That wish might come true. The Philadelphia Flyers dealt the veteran to a steamin' hot Detroit Red Wings yesterday along with a fourth round pick in 2025, in exchange for Nick Ritchie and a second round pick this summer. The Flyers also retain 50% of Toews' salary. His first game with his new team will be against his former team, in his former team's barn. "The Red Wings organization was kind enough to let me stay in Philadelphia and wait for the team to arrive. I will travel with the team to Toronto after this game, and I'm eager to meet my new team mates", Toews stated on a digital press conference. "I've only been in Philadelphia for half a season, but it will feel weird for sure". He's joining up with a Red Wings team that have been on fire lately, and are expected to make a push for the Stanley Cup win this season. The team recently added Claude Giroux from the Ottawa Senators, and are expected to be active come trade deadline.
When asked about the possibilities of ending a great career with a Stanley Cup win, Toews answered: "That would be a really cool way to end it!" The Red Wings are currently sitting in 2nd place in the Atlantic Division, only trailing the Buffalo Sabres. New Comment |
