With his short tenure with the Blues, and what he was able to assemble there, We had to get him locked down here before someone like Nashville snatched him up."

Talbot says it's always been a dream to work with the Jets, but never imagined it would be as GM.

Avalanche Continue to Tinker - Add ToffoliPar George Bachul (Colorado Avalanche) Le Thursday 31st October 2024 / 3:47pm
Today the Colorado Avalanche added what they have been pushing for all season, a top line left winger. The Avalanche sent prospect Mikail Gulyayev to Pittsburgh in a one for one trade. "We couldn't be happier. Tyler is exactly what we have been looking for. A top line player at a reasonable cap number which will allow for us to be fluid going forward. Tyler is a great teammate, super talented and playing with Mac and Mikko, he should compliment them very well. You need players that can find the soft areas of the ice, and it is a perfect fit for us." "Gulyayev is an excellent player, but has committed to the KHL for his development. We certainly believe that when he comes over he could certainly be in that Panarin, Kucherov conversation from a talent standpoint, but our window is now, so we feel we have to make moves that benefit us in the here and now." Toffoli is expected to be in the line up next game when the Avalanche meet the Predators in Nashville. Good start in OttawaPar Fredrik Laving (Ottawa Senators) Le Saturday 26th October 2024 / 2:00pmFor once, it's a good start in Ottawa. Summer of changes in WashingtonPar Tommy Tran (Washington Capitals) Le Thursday 1st August 2024 / 10:54amDuring the offseason, Washington Capitals have made some significant changes to the roster indicating that the team is taking another direction this season. Some important players have left the organisation while there have also been some new faces added to the team. Here we will take a look at the transactions made during the offseason and the expectations for the upcoming season.
GM Tommy Tran decided to do "mini-retool", shipping important players such as John Carlson, Charlie Lindgren and Anthony Mantha to Los Angeles Kings (it just happened to be them). These players are moving to Washington: * Tanner Jeannot along with a fourth round pick (TBL, 2025) from Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Nic Dowd along with a third round pick (WSH, 2025). * Matt Roy along with a second round pick (DET, 2025) from Los Angeles Kings in exchange for John Carlson. * Young players Erik Portillo, Jordan Spence, Martin Chromiak along with a first round pick (LAK, 2024) from Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Charlie Lindgren and a fourth round pick (TBL, 2025). * Alex Turcotte along with a secound round pick (LAK, 2025) from Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Anthony Mantha at 50% retained. * Erik Haula along with a fourth round pick (CGY, 2025) from Florida Panthers in exchange for Tanner Jeannot with a second round pick (COL, 2025). * Alexander Wennberg along with a third round pick (SEA, 2025) from Seattle Kraken in exchange for a fifth round pick (BUF, 2025). * Kaapo Kahkonen at 50% retained from San Jose Sharks in exchange for a fourth round pick (CGY, 2025). * Morgan Geekie, prospect Christopher Pelosi along with a fifth round pick (BOS, 2025) in exchange for Evgeny Kuznetsov at 50% retained.
"We are very pleased with the new players we have acquired. Matt Roy is a very good defensive defenseman and he will bolster our defensive unit while Erik Haula and Alexander Wennberg will bring experience and some depth scoring to the team. Kaapo Kahkonen will form a solid tandem together with Frederik Andersen. We also got some very exciting young players who will bring some youth and speed to our team. Turcotte, Portillo, Spence and Chromiak will all begin the season with Hershey Bears in the AHL and we'll see how they develop as the season unfolds. This season we hope that our younger players in NHL will take a step forward in their development, we take it game by game and we'll see how the season ends up. Washington Capitals would also like to welcome our new players to the organisation and we would like to thank and wish the departing players the best of luck in their futures." - GM Tran.
